When Obedience Makes You the Odd One Out
“You just talked me down, my beliefs, my convictions, everything.
“You just talked me down, my beliefs, my convictions, everything.
Yet you’re the same people who run to me when you need someone to pray for you or draw closer to God.
It was painful. Truly painful.
Little by little, I tried to shut down my awareness of the Holy Spirit, just to be accepted.
But I couldn’t.
It’s in Him I live, move, and have my being. ✨
I remember bursting into tears during family devotion one evening.
My mom, surprised, pulled me close and asked, “Tosin, what’s wrong?”
Through the tears I said, “Mummy, I don’t have friends who see things the way I do.”
She didn’t say much. But she held me. And silently prayed.
Being 17 and feeling like the odd one out wasn’t easy.
But now, looking back, I thank God I didn’t give up.
I thank Him for the lonely seasons.
Because choosing to walk with the Holy Spirit, despite the teasing, has been the reason I’ve survived many storms.
And now…
God has blessed me with beautiful friends. Friends who love Jesus.
Friends who fuel my walk with God and help me grow closer to Him every day.
Dear gentle reader,
Are you in a season where it feels like you’re the only one standing? ✋
Don’t give up.
Keep holding on.
God’s got you covered, beloved. ❤️
Choose to take comfort in His presence.
And little by little, you’ll be introduced to your tribe
Fellow soldiers of Christ whose purpose aligns with yours. ⚔️
You gart this!
Till I write again,
Oluwatosin 🌹
