I felt late to my own life

A letter for the one scrolling through everyone else’s growth

Dear Becoming One,

Let's talk about it. That quiet feeling that somehow… you're behind. That everyone else is doing big things, starting things, launching things, becoming things.

And you? You're just… here. Still praying. Still waiting. Still obeying. Still growing at a pace that feels almost invisible.

It usually doesn't begin with unbelief. It begins with comparison. Just a few scrolls on your phone. Another announcement. Another testimony. Another celebration.

And before long, your heart begins to whisper questions Heaven never asked. "God, am I late?" "Did I miss my moment?" "Why does everyone seem to be moving faster than me?" Maybe you've asked those questions too. I have.

And I've learned something in those moments: Comparison rarely makes you admire someone else's journey. It makes you question your own.

It slowly blurs your vision until you're so focused on what God is doing in someone else's life that you stop recognizing what He's doing in yours. You stop seeing answered prayers. You stop noticing growth. You stop celebrating quiet obedience. You stop thanking Him for today's grace because you're consumed by tomorrow's expectations.

That's what comparison steals, not your blessings, but your sight.

But here's the truth comparison can never tell you: God's timing isn't competitive. The Kingdom of God has never operated like a race where only one person gets to arrive. No one else's obedience delays yours. No one else's promotion cancels your assignment. No one else's harvest means your field has been forgotten.

The God who called you knows exactly where you are. He isn't trying to catch up with your timeline. He's fulfilling His purpose.

So hear this with fresh confidence: God isn't rushing you. You are not late. You are not being left behind. You are being led.

Read that again. Not left. Led.

The Shepherd doesn't lose His sheep. He leads them, sometimes beside still waters, sometimes through valleys, sometimes into seasons that look painfully ordinary. But every step has purpose. Every season is producing something eternity will recognize.

So don't trade formation for speed. Don't exchange faithfulness for visibility. Don't despise the hidden season simply because no one is applauding it.

Roots grow in hidden places. Character is formed in quiet places. And God often prepares His people long before He presents them.

Your responsibility is not to keep up with everyone else. Your responsibility is to keep in step with Him. Let others run the race God has marked out for them. Trust Him to write the pace of yours.

Because purpose was never about being first. It has always been about being faithful.

One day, the very season you're tempted to resent will become part of the testimony that strengthens someone else. You'll look back and realize that what felt like delay was actually preparation. What felt like silence was formation. What felt like being overlooked was God building depth that visibility could never produce on its own.

So if your journey feels slower today, if your obedience feels unnoticed, if everyone else's life seems louder than yours, lift your eyes again.

The Author of your story is still writing. He hasn't forgotten a single page.

Stay close. Stay faithful. Stay in step.

The One who began the work in you is far too faithful to leave it unfinished.

With love, Your fellow becoming one. 🕊️
