Agbanilagbatan
The one who saves and saves completely
Dearest gentle reader,
It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
So sorry it’s been a while since I’ve written to you. I hope you didn’t miss my letters too much. 🥹
I’ve had to take some time to really reflect and search my heart, even deeply, to realign with God.
And in that process, I realised one major truth that I’d like to share with you:
My God, Our God, is Agbanilagbatan — the One who delivers, and delivers totally.
I don’t believe in a God who does things halfway. I don’t believe in a God who starts something and doesn’t finish what He started.
My God, Our God, is faithful to finish and bring to pass all that He has spoken to you or promised you.
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” — Philippians 1:6
I got on this path of never returning from God almost four years ago, and boy, He has been faithful.
There was a slight fear in me once:
What if I stray and He never finds me?
He reminded me that He is the One who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one.
Luke 15:4–6
What if I lose track of the goal ahead of me?
He reminded me that He is the One who blesses and keeps me.
“The Lord bless you and keep you.” — Numbers 6:24
And even when He brings me into places of abundance, He reminds me not to forget Him or lose sight of the One who gave me the blessing.
Deuteronomy 8:10–18
What if I am too tired to continue with You?
He said,
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
Lord, what if I can’t connect with You? What if I can’t feel You?
He said,
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7
And when I wonder whether He will still be there tomorrow, He reminds me:
“I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” — Matthew 28:20
Lord, what if I get scared?
He said,
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
And somehow, in the way only God can, I hear Him say:
“Tosin, I got you.”
What if the journey is lonely?
He says,
“I am with you. I am for you.”
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” — Romans 8:31
And even more beautifully, He reminds me that He doesn’t just walk beside me.
He lives in me.
“Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” — 1 Corinthians 3:16
God, You are all-sufficient.
So what do I do to keep pressing into You?
He said,
“Just surrender.”
Whenever you feel lost, overwhelmed, or scared, cry to Me for help.
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3
Run to Me, every time.
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” — Hebrews 4:16
Don’t be scared, for I am with you. I am for you. I am in you. And I love you.
Just like a dad serves as a guardrail for his child who is learning to walk, or a dad walks beside his child, leading her, watching her run off to fulfil an errand, and waits patiently for her to come back and tell him how it went — that’s my Father.
He is my Father.
And He has been faithful.
He saved me, and He saved me completely.
There is no turning back.
And He loves me so, so much.
He wants to shower His love on me sooooo badly, to mould me into all He has created me to be.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10
That’s my God.
The One who saves.
The One who heals.
The One who moulds.
The One who calls.
The One who keeps.
He will never leave you stranded. Not once.
“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Deuteronomy 31:8
So lean on Him.
Hold on to Him tightly and know that He will never let go.
Jesus said,
“No one will snatch them out of My hand.” — John 10:28
Run to Him every time.
Don’t be ashamed to run back to God, even if it feels like you have gone all the way.
Run to Him.
And trust Him.
Because He is Agbanilagbatan.
The One who delivers.
The One who delivers completely.
Till I write again, dearest gentle reader, thank you for reading.
Bye for now,
Your earnest friend,
Oluwatosin
